Taking the best notes and chords from those that came before, the Encore guide below hopes to get that foot tapping into your Bardic future.

If the Bard is anything, it is versatile. A strong list of spells, combat skills and of course a huge number of skills to call upon. While this class can do many things, its strengths lies in creativity. Other classes may revel in counter in merge sort damage output, Bards can help make their allies heroic with buffs or cripple enemies with debuffs. Bard optimisation starts here.

If you feel it fits your concept, go for it, but you will likely be less effective. Dragonborn work nice for the melee type. And Triton or Aasimar are a solid choice if your DM is letting you go with less common options. Minotaur : Needs more Cowbell? Charging into battle as a Valor Bard has a draw to it. Lore and Glamour Bards should avoid.

At lower levels though, the difference is much more noticeable. It is less forgiving, and getting dropped is really, really easy. Keep that in mind when looking at races. Looking to be a buffing machine devoted to talking up your friends and having them rise to the occasion? Lore Bards get access to more skills and magic than the other Colleges and are therefore more suited to being creative with their options. Songs of battle and heroism fuel the College of Valor.

These skalds wade into the front lines of to sing songs while cutting through enemies. This is very much a support caster bard. You risk a lot having less defense than other fighting classes though.

Need Help?

However, unlike a Rogue, you are getting the Bard spellcasting. Final Thoughts : College of Whispers is very much not the Bard you are looking for in most dungeon-crawling campaigns. In those kind of campaigns, this is a great choice. You can dish out damage, but the real power of a Bard comes from thinking outside the box. Use your imagination and roleplay skills to get extra out of your setlist. Some of these may rely on how lenient your Game Master is. Remember to take advantage of retraining spells if you need to.

Try to maintain some diversity just in case you start coming up against enemies with solid Wisdom scores. The spells below wont cover other classes you can get access to through Magical Secrets.

Your race may also give you more chances to pick skill proficiencies, again not limited to this list. In any case, barring the presence of a Rogue and characters with questionable feat choices, you are the skill monkey of the group. Even mechanically weaker skills can still offer a good benefit to the party as a whole. They can help flesh out your character a bit, offer some mechanical help, and help you better define where your Bard is coming from.

Keep in mind that if a background gives you a skill you already had from your class or race, you get to pick any other skill to replace it including a non-class skill.Home Post new thread What's new Latest activity Authors.

Monster Workshop: How To Make A Monster in 5e

DeVille Start date Jul 6, Fleetwood C. DeVille Explorer. In a recent session a fighter wearing a cloak of displacement which: " projects an illusion that makes you appear to be standing in a place near your actual location, causing any creature to have disadvantage on attack rolls against you".

The opponent was a construct with Blindsight. Sir Brennen Explorer. I'm inclined to say yes, just as a creature with blindsight would "see" characters hiding behind an illusionary wall. DM call, I would let the cloak work since it doesn't say that the illusion is visual only. Others might read "appear" as specific to vision, I wouldn't argue against it.

The cloak would definitely not work against a creature with truesight though.Free Resources on Roll All rights reserved. Advertisement Create a free account. Sign In. For example, an arrow of dragon slaying deals extra damage not only to Dragons but also other creatures of the dragon type, such as dragon turtles and wyverns. The game includes the following monster types, which have no rules of their own. Some dragonborn use their social skills to gain honor and benefit from ruling councils. Some hold their ancestors more primal fighting instincts. Others are adapted to the arctic, mountains, or oceans.

All dragonborn may choose from the Draconic Senses or the Winged traits in addition to those traits listed below. Aquatic Heritage Black, Bronze, Gold, Green The coasts, islands, and deepest ocean trenches are as home to you as the metropolitan cities of the dragonborn lands.

You can breath both air and water and you gain a swim speed of 30 feet. You also gain darkvision to a range of 60 feet and proficiency with Athletics checks. You gain a burrow speed of 10 feet and you can hold your breath for a number of minutes equal to your Constitution score not your Constitution modifier. You also gain proficiency with Stealth checks and Survival checks.

You gain darkvision to a range of 60 feet and proficiency with Perception checks. In addition, as a bonus action, you can gain the benefits of blindsight to a range of 10 feet for 1 minute. Once you use this ability you may not use it again until you take a long rest. You gain a climb speed of 30 feet and proficiency with Athletics checks. You may double your proficiency bonus on any Athletics checks you make.

Polar Heritage Silver, White You are built for crossing icy ledges, slippery mountainsides, and frozen lakes. Choose one of these skills; you gain double your proficiency bonus with that skill. You gain a bite attack that deals 1d4 point of piercing damage, plus your Strength modifier. You gain proficiency with History and Intimidate checks. You gain proficiency with Insight and Persuasion checks.

Trickster Green, Copper Whether your humor is good natured or malevolent, you lean toward deception and trickery. Whether you ally with it or bend it to your will is up to you. Winged All Far rarer than breathing fire or lightning, the gift of draconic wings is one that raises you to royal status.

You gain a flight speed of 30 feet. At 11th level, this flight speed increases to 50 feet. Designers Notes: The only racial abilities possessed by the dragonborn are their resistance and an increasingly dangerous area effect breath weapon that recharges on short rests; a powerful ability.

In this case, the tiefling. In addition to their resistance, tieflings possess: darkvision, a bonus non-damaging cantrip, a bonus damaging 1st level spell at 3rd, and a bonus non-damaging 2nd level spell at 5th. As we are replacing the breath weapon, non-damaging cantrips and spells feel like appropriate swaps, as well as skill proficiencies and movement modes.

In the case of Wildling and Shifter traits, these were straightforward. Granting one of those skills a double proficiency bonus makes the trade more interesting and keeps the build focused on a theme. At higher levels, the extra damage and magical effect of the elemental charging allows the bite to be effective without an unlimited number of uses. By its NatureAdventuring involves delving into places that are dark, dangerous, and full of mysteries to be explored. The rules in this section cover some of the most important ways in which adventurers interact with the Environment in such places.

Falling A fall from a great height is one of the most Common Hazards facing an adventurer. At the end of a fall, a creature takes 1d6 bludgeoning damage for every 10 feet it fell, to a maximum of 20d6. The creature lands prone, unless it avoids taking damage from the fall. When a creature runs out of breath or is choking, it can survive for a number of rounds equal to its Constitution modifier minimum of 1 round.

Blindsight

For example, a creature with a Constitution of 14 can hold its breath for 3 minutes. If it starts suffocating, it has 2 rounds to reach air before it drops to 0 Hit Points. Darkness and other Effects that obscure vision can prove a significant hindrance. A given area might be lightly or heavily obscured.Looking at playing an oracle with the clouded vision curse dead set on it please don't recommend to change and was wondering if anyone knew a way to get one or more of these without breaking the bank optimally feats would be awesome but not really worth it if only 5ft.

There are spells available, and I think an eyes slot item that gives the full Draconic Suite. Other than that, level up until the curses mitigating effects kick in. If you want something easily available to a low level character, you are kind of missing the point on what a curse is all about.

Was looking to more or less make the "see only 60ft" trivial also planning on going more oradin based than straight oracle so not even fully sure I'll reach the full curse bonus there also forgot to mention looking preferably for a permanent or times per day usage kinda deal but if there are spells could we list their names at least as well as the items names if possible thank you ahead of time.

Oracle Class Features Dragon mystery dragon senses revelation - 11th level, blindsense 30 ft. Life mystery lifesense revelation - 11th level, blindsight 30 ft. Spirit Guide archetype life spirit, life sight revelation - 12th level, blindsight 30 ft.

Check out the Blinded Blade Style chain of feats. The Blind Zeal trait pairs well with these, so long as you don't mind worshipping Vildeis. I think there are magic items that let you project your senses from a distant point, but I can't remember at the moment.

To use it you need telepathy which actually isn't easy for a divine caster. I'm beginning to think this isn't a coincidence and your curse is here to stay.

An alternative would be to buy a Serpentine Owl. PRD wrote: Serpentine Owl: This figurine becomes either a normal-sized horned owl or a giant owl use the stats for the giant eagle according to the command word used. The transformation can take place once per day, with a maximum duration of 8 continuous hours.

However, after three transformations into giant owl form, the statuette loses all its magical properties. The owl communicates with its owner by telepathic means, informing her of all it sees and hears. Three of them will cover you with reports of events, creatures, items beyond your range of vision for 24 hours a day. Snowlilly Feb 27,am Avoron wrote:. Yah basically trying to "extend" that 60ft vision maximum. Didn't Darc clarify that he was looking for a way to make the 60' perception limit trivial. I can't think of a way off hand, but that kind of thing isn't my forte.
