First, notice thathe wiper speed switch is now called a multi-function switch MFS.
It does not actually switch power to the wiper motor. In this case, the Smart Junction Box performs the same functions as a Body Control Module used in other makes and models. The voltage flows through resistors built into the MFS and then to ground. The SJB measure the voltage drop and based on the remaining voltage, determines what setting the driver has requested. The SJB then applies a ground to the appropriate relays which then provide power to the wiper motor and washer motor.
Then check for power at the relays. Follow the Ford wiper wiring diagram and check for power at the relay contacts and control coil.

Need help! I thought i might have my first module to program last week. I am finding out though that i may not be able to and wanted advise from the flash veterans. Its a Mustang 6cyl, auto. It needs a new SJB or smart junction box which is in the passenger kick panel. After reading all i could about the process here is what i found: Using the "Drew toolbox" and navigating to flashing, Ford, and then info, i read that modules on the medium speed network which this is according to Shop Key are not supported using Ford module programming FMP.
Then going to nastf. After checking Snap On's website for the Modis's We did access the data using the "gem" data i think when diagnosing this car earlier this week.
It tells you to retrieve and download info from module into tool then back into new module. Then suggests a link to the pages regarding general "module configuration" which discusses 3 different types of module programming.
In this section it lists the SJB as one that can be programmed a few different ways including calibration update. Yet this is not offered by Ford. Can the Modis do this? If FMP doesnt offer this and the Modis can not, is this strictly a function of the factory Ford tool? Has anyone ever done one of these types of modules? Do i have to let the dealer do the entire job? Just last week I ran into this on a Mazda that had an Evap issue.
I myself have never had the displeasure of replacing one of these yet as all the ones I came across went back to the dealer to repair the water leak that these all have. Yes, the SJB had corroded and broken terminals. Over a year ago i unplugged the wiper cowl drains because the water was flooding inside and have had no problem since. Obviosly, the water had some unforseen long-term effects. What "water leak" are you refering to? Is this what your refering to?
Steve, i feel like i owe you something. Your always so helpful. Wish i could return the favor but your always a step ahead. Gratefully, Neil. Rich Barton. Loading modules. The jbox should be able to do As built data if it is needed, the same as the Ford Ids. As built data is used on the modules as programing.Kelly answered 4 years ago. New switch. No power to the left rear turn or brake light.
I do have tail light. Fuses are good. Left turn relay under hood has power on one socket but won't flash on the other. Rowefast answered 4 years ago. Probably a 2 filament bulb, one for tail light, and the other for the break, blinker light.
So you checked for power at the socket with a test light for the break light? And how about the wire running to the socket? Then I would try replacing the break relay, and the turn signal relay.
Check them fuses for these circuits also. Well I haven't heard of that, but anything is possible. So something new for me to brush up on. I would figure there is something simple to correct this. At this point the thing I would do is trace wires and look at connections.
GuruHXRS answered 2 years ago. Now the right went out. Have the dealership put a new smart junction box in the fix the left one about seven months ago. Now the right ones out LOL. We have checked the bulbs, fuses, and wires.
All of these work, but the problem persists. We have checked the brake switch and turn signal switch.Ford F250 Internal door lock switch troubleshooting VSM reset pull fuse 19
